Alan & Lyn make studio pottery in stoneware and porcelain clays. Each piece of pottery is hand thrown on the potters wheel or hand built.They are then individually decorated in glazes and oxides and fired in an electric kiln to 1,280 degrees centigrade Each piece is totally unique. They have been making a living producing their pots for about 20 years,Aladoes most of the making whilst Lyn uses brush work to decorate them. The pots vary greatly in size from "mini vases" about 2 -3 inches tall to very large vases and plant pots so the price range is large. The small vases start at £3.00 and the price rises depending on size and decoration. For example a medium sized table lamp complete with shade 15" will be £30.00. Porcelain is more expensive and time consuming to produce so the price reflects this.The stoneware vases are not glazed all over as the high firing makes them totally watertight. The porcelain vases however are glazed on the inside merely to avoid staining after being used for flowers or plant pots. Table ware ie; cups, plates, jugs or anything used for food are always glazed for hygiene. Special orders and commissions are welcome.
