Crinkle crêpe scarf

I paint original designs on silk scarves and ties using wax resist and steam-fixed dyes. My main 'colourburst' collection of scarves has wax motifs resisting three almost random colours. I paint mostly on crêpe satin and lightweight crêpe de chine with a price range of £8.00 - £22.00. All traces of wax disappear during the steaming process and my products are colourfast. I make matching scarf clips for the crêpe satin scarves and brooches from small pieces of satin inserted in a three part fitting.

I also offer a bespoke service, painting silk with pictures featuring different themes such as pets, music or places. Recent commissions have included a canal boat scene on a tie and hummingbirds painted on a scarf.

I began doing silk painted crafts in 1985 after attending a course in Styal Mill, Manchester. Commissions extend nationwide and abroad.
